Relación y otros instrumentos sobre el desacato de los Naturales de Dongalo. 1717.

This case recounts a confrontation involving Fray Juan Serrano, who sought to prevent the local indigenous people of Dongalo from constructing a fence that divided their land from that owned by the Augustinian order. The incident highlights the conflict between the indigenous people and the religious authorities, as well as the tensions surrounding land disputes during that time. This text is in the volume with the title "Pertenece al Aparador dentro de la Pared. Caxn No 4. Missiones. Leg 2." Historical papers and documents concerned with the Spanish Missions in the Philippines and East Asia, Vol. II, in the 17th century. Continuation of the previous volume. "Folio 1-480 Collection of documents, c. 1650-1733, on land owned by the Augustinians in Luzon, including title-deeds, grants, donations, transfers, litigation over the same, and demarcation of boundaries, etc. Comprises over 500 leaves, but the numeration is very erratic and there are gaps, duplication, etc. Original vellum binding, lettered on the cover: “Pertenece al Aparador fuera de la Pared. Caxⁿ N° 9. Papeles de Tagalos. Legajo 4 y 5.” This codex forms a most valuable source for the study of the Augustinian land-holdings, and their administration of the Filipinos on their lands, in the period 1650-1730."
