description
José Veitia Linaje (n. Burgos in 1620, m. Madrid in 1688) he was a magistrate and administrator of Spain, and author of an important work on trade and traffic legislation with the kingdoms of the Indies. Their last names occasionally appear as Veytia and Linage. He should not be confused with his nephew, Juan José de Veitia, who was governor of Yucatan, judge of alcabalas and mayor of Puebla; or with the nephew of the previous one, José Fernández de Villanueva Veitia y Linaje, prosecutor and later oidor of the Royal Audience of Mexico (1728), as well as superintendent of the Royal Mint of Mexico (1729).
