Reclaiming the Lost Archive of San Agustin Library

This letter discusses the challenges faced by missionaries, specifically those from the Order of St. Augustine from the Philippines, in spreading their faith. Although these missionaries were initially successful in baptizing many Chinese people and establishing churches, they later faced obstacles due to a decree by the Patriarch of Antioch. This decree conflicted with the Emperor's views and led to the expulsion of the missionaries to Macao, where they were prevented from returning to their mission work.
